Computational Chemist
Profession will appear after 2025
Trends
The use of computer models speeds up chemical experiments that can take months in real time. In addition, no expensive reagents are required for computer simulation. Unlike an experiment, a computer model shows the variable results obtained when one or more parameters of the experiment are changed.
The novelty of the profession: solving existing problems in new ways: conducting physical and chemical experiments using software.
Key competencies:
- Using mathematical algorithms, statistics, and large databases to integrate chemical theory and modeling with experimental observations
- Creation of models and simulation of physical processes
- Using statistics and data analysis techniques to extract useful information from large data sets
