University named after Suleiman Demirel (SDU) is one of the first private universities in Kazakhstan. The university is located at the foot of the mountains, 20 kilometers from the center of Almaty. SDU was founded in 1996 and inaugurated by the country's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Currently, the university has four faculties: the Faculty of Pedagogy and Humanities, the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences and the School of Business. Education is carried out in three languages: English (main - 81% of all educational programs), Kazakh (16%) and Russian (3%).
