In fish farming, robotic feeders are already being used (for example, in Japan) in fish farms on the high seas. Robotic feeders can serve food on a fixed schedule, and also contain a feed demand sensor (this helps reduce feed losses, increase efficiency, and minimize any impact on the marine environment), underwater cameras and sensors that measure dissolved oxygen and water temperature; all information is available on personal computers or mobile phones.

The blockchain is already being used (for example, by Fishcoin) to exchange information about the origin, catch, processing and delivery of fish, providing a transparent and verifiable origin of each individual aquaculture product. In addition, blockchain will help overcome the fragmentation of the supply chain in the industry.
